Situated in the South-east of the Region of Madrid, they are located in the Arganda del Rey subzona, the most extensive of the three that constitute the Denomination of Origin Wines of Madrid. This subzona covers 25 municipalities with 6.400 hectares of vineyards, approximately.
The climate is continental classic, with extreme temperatures in Winter and Summer and scarce rainfall, mainly in Spring and Autumn. The vineyards setting up in a clay soil with a considerable limestone component and acid ph. The constant sun in summer facilitates the growing of rich grapes in sugar with the exact acidity in order to produce wines of quality.
The optimum conditions of the soil and climate and the grapes varieties grown allow the elaboration of wines with own personality characterized by their freshness and softness and attractive aroma.
Bodegas Castejón owns 62 hectares of vineyards maintaining long term relations with more than 200 winegrowers in the area which means in total 300 hectares.
